FAQ

Q: I’m active-duty Army at JBLM. Do my deployment years count for PSLF? Yes. Active military service is federal employment for PSLF purposes. While on IDR with a $0 qualifying payment (common during low-income early military years), each month still counts toward your 120 qualifying payments. Submit ECF annually.

Q: MultiCare or Virginia Mason Franciscan — which is the better PSLF employer? Both are 501(c)(3) nonprofits → equivalent PSLF status. Pick based on commute, role, schedule, and culture, not PSLF status.

Q: I work at a dental DSO in Tacoma. Can I move to a PSLF-eligible employer? Yes — dental hygienists and dentists at Sea Mar, CHC of Tacoma, the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, or any FQHC are PSLF-eligible.
